Late Saxon West Tower, 12th Century porch, original long lancet windows at east end. Originally Saxon, though much that remains today is 13th century rebuilding. Also rebuilding took place in the 19th century. There are two fragments of two Saxon cross shafts and fragments of medieval cross slabs as well as the gravestone of Thomas Bewick wood engraver. A new peel of 8 Bells was installed in the Saxon Tower in January 2012. The Tower Millennium window 990 –1990 by Evetts - “the desert shall blossom like a rose" dedicated in July 1990. The church is generally open.
